Synopsis

Paulus the Forest Gnome and the tragedy of his spiritual father Jean Dulieu (1921 – 2006) Childhood memories Paulus the Forest Gnome is a childhood memory for many of us. Jean Dulieu began publishing his stories in 1946 as a newspaper comic strip in Het Vrije Volk. This was followed by radio plays, books, puppet theater performances, and later a television series, which enjoyed enormous success from the late 1940s to the 1970s. What makes the radio plays and first television series extra special is that Dulieu created them all on his own and taught himself everything he needed to know. A biography about Jean Dulieu, whose real name was Jan van Oort, will be published soon. It was written by his daughter, the author Dorinde van Oort.
